The Mechanical Organ Owners Society

JOIN THE MOOS

Would you like to become a MOOS member from as little as £12 a year?

The objects of the MOOS are to protect and help the interests of mechanical organ owners and operators. Formed in 1976 by a small group of owners who felt that their interests were not being considered by those in authority, often with other, conflicting, views, it now has members throughout the world.

The Society endeavours to reconcile the problems relating to Government and other official bodies covering all aspects relating to organ owners and the playing of mechanical organs.

MAGAZINE
The Society magazine, 'Vox Humana', is produced normally four times a year. It contains articles on, amongst other topics, the mechanics of organs, and mechanical organs in particular; descriptions and history of members' instruments; surveys and reports on Society matters; together with a résumé of any Government proposals, in which the Society endeavours to reconcile the Law as stated with its practical application.

NEWSLETTER
A regular newsletter is produced and posted to members every 2-3 months containing a mix of society and organ news, plus interesting articles from contributors.

THIS WEBSITE
Although we post some interesting news articles and content for non members, this site is currently being expaned with a 'user login' function, meaning extra 'members only' content will be available.

TECHNICAL INFORMATION
Although the Society does not have a Technical Services Section as such, it is fortunate that knowledge within the Membership means that information can normally be given.

MEET LIKE MINDED PEOPLE
The society organises a yearly trip abroad in conjunction with history in harmony. The 2008 tour took over 30 MOOS members to the Eifel region of Germany and included special tours, talks and access to museums and exhibitions normally closed to the public. The Society retains a list of members on a computer file for its own administration, but under the rules it cannot divulge the names and addresses of Members. Contact therefore can only be through the Membership Secretary, who passes the information to the member concerned, and it is for the member to decide whether further action is taken.

DISCOUNTED INSURANCE SCEMES
If you are an organ owner, take advantage of the MOOS Insurance Scheme including Public Liability, and 'All Risk' insurance for peace of mind.
